Sliding Gate Installation Service
Sliding gates solve clearance problems, but they only stay smooth when the movement path stays clean and true. In King County, slope runoff and wet season flow can turn a good looking gate into a noisy gate if the track area is not planned for water and debris.
That is why we treat lot geometry as the main driver. We look at grade direction, where water naturally sheets, and how the driveway crowns near the opening. Then we set the gate path so the travel zone is not the low point that collects grit.
Two decisions change when the site has slope. First, we choose track versus cantilever based on where runoff crosses the line of travel. Second, we set the stack zone and end stops so the gate can fully clear the opening without sliding into a wet pocket that packs with silt.
What The Installation Plan Covers
Movement path
- Gate opening width and clear travel line
- Stack space so the opening fully clears
- Stops that prevent overrun and bounce
Support and alignment
- Post stability and plumb set
- Frame geometry so rollers stay true
- Hardware spacing to avoid binding
Water and debris control
- Drainage direction near the gate line
- Protection for the travel zone
- Clearance that reduces grit grinding
How We Decide Track Or Cantilever
- If runoff crosses the travel line and the entry is a low spot, cantilever is often the safer choice because it keeps the travel path off the ground.
- If the travel line stays dry and grade can be managed, a track system can work well when the base is stable and the path stays clean.
- If the driveway slope forces water toward the opening, we change the layout before we select hardware so the gate does not live in the collection zone.

Staging limitation
If the only workable stack zone sits on a slope, the layout must be set so the gate does not fight gravity at the end of travel. That choice affects longevity more than the material choice.
What Owners Say After Install
Leah D.
The gate glides quietly and the path stays clean even after heavy rain.
Marcus V.
They planned the stack zone right and we did not lose driveway space.
Jules K.
We had a slope issue and they avoided the low spot so the travel stays smooth.
Hannah R.
The opening clears fast and the layout looks intentional with the fence line.
Owen P.
They explained the track versus cantilever choice in a way that made sense for our lot.
Sliding Gate Questions In King County
Why do sliding gates get noisy over time?
Noise often comes from debris in the travel path, worn rollers, or alignment drift from post movement. We plan the path and set geometry to reduce grinding and binding.
Is a cantilever gate always better in wet areas?
Not always, but it can be a strong fit when runoff crosses the travel line. The best choice depends on grade direction and where water and silt move during storms.
Can a sliding gate work on a sloped driveway?
Yes, when the layout avoids a low collection zone and the end of travel is set so the gate is not forced to fight gravity or settle into drag.
Risk Disclosure For Slope Runoff Lots
If the gate line sits where water sheets across the driveway, a layout that ignores runoff will shorten hardware life. The safest move is to lock the travel zone to the dry side of the grade before final measurements.
